This shows a collection of maps of the Ravensworth homestead and various estate and property boundaries.
Hand-drawn map of Ravensworth boundaries. This map was created as part of an arbitration process between Dr. James Bowman and Colonel Henry Dumaresq, the owner of a neighbouring homestead St Heliar’s. This arbitration process is circa late 1830s/perhaps around 1840; however, the boundary dispute dates from the mid-to-late 1820s. The boundary dispute involved a line of demarcation named ‘the Needles’, which is described as a ‘rocky barrier’ which was situated across a stream. These maps show portions of the two properties running contiguously to Sandy Creek. Map of land granted or purchased by Bowman, as yet undated. Sourced from James Bowman papers at Mitchell Library. Marked on the map are the surrounding parishes of Liddell, Vane and Ravensworth.
