We are so happy that our Contex plan scanner is back up and running again that we’d thought we’d celebrate by:

a) giving her a name, ‘Connie’ for Connie the Contex Scanner

b) scanning this beautiful original hand coloured 1845 plan of Belle Vue, Brisbane Water (Mr. Fagan’s Land).

Click on the image to access the high resolution 600 dpi scan.

An insert detail features another ‘plan within a plan’ with all the land grants in the Brisbane Water region to 1845. It also shows the location of the Belle Vue with regards to the Brisbane Water region.

Connie Contex - our University's plan scanner
“Connie Contex” – our University’s plan scanner, back up and running after a brief software illness.

We wish to thank Shaun and the team from Computergate Australia who found the ‘fix’.

We would also like to thank our colleagues at the University Archives at the University of New South Wales who forwarded this plan to us back in 2008, when they located it among a collection of archives of a former Laboratory employee when the fledgling ‘University of Newcastle’ was still a College of their University in the 1950s and early 1960s.

Kind Regards
Gionni Di Gravio
University Archivist
