Who’s up for a return to 1971 prices?

Foodland Scholarships, Newcastle Morning Herald, 3rd February 1971, p.18

This morning.

Delving among the microfilms held.

Within the bowels of the Auchmuty Library.

Locating a long lost article.

Among the (now) celluloid pages of the Newcastle Morning Herald.

Of the 3 February 1971.

For a former University of Newcastle PhD graduate.

And, lecturer from the late 1960s.

Now residing in the United States.

Up came these prices for everyday items.

Wouldn’t it be great,

To once again buy,

A gallon of detergent for 25 cents?

A tea cake for 14 cents?

Or two Pepsi colas for 13 cents?

What a wonderful world that would be.
