Revisiting Newcastle’s Tech High

The following article by Joseph Wright was published in the Newcastle Herald on Saturday 10 November, 2018. It covers a history of Newcastle Technical High School that opened in 1939. Joseph is a UON student and undertook a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placement in the GLAMx Living Histories Digitisation Lab as part of a communications placement.

  1. The champion soccer team of 1930 could not have been NTHS as the school only began in 1938.
    It would be the Newcastle Central School, later Newcastle Junior Technical high, Broadmeadow Junior High, Broadmeadow High, (briefly) The Broadmeadow School and now Hunter School of The Performing Arts.
