Hunter Living Histories Showcase
“Return to Yallarwah”
Monday 9 October 2023 (1.00pm-2.30pm)

This work respectfully honours the First Australian People, the Aboriginal People of this land.

WHEN –  Monday 9 October 2023 (1.00pm-2.30pm)

All welcome to attend the next “Return to Yallarwah” Showcase featuring presentations from invited guests and general discussions, hosted as part of the Hunter Living Histories showcase.

The Yallarwah Bicentenary Memorial is among (more so) the first united Aboriginal/non-Aboriginal memorials in Australia.

Yallarwah Place (or Uncle Bob’s Place) was launched in February 1999 to serve First Nations/ Aboriginal people and families across NSW undergoing medical treatment at the John Hunter Hospital to feel welcome, supported and cared for during their stay in hospital.

Over the past years Yallarwah has suffered itself and not been cared for as it could and should have been.

We have really good news to share with everyone that things are on the mend with the building, and grounds, so please come along next Monday 9 October from 1 to 2:30pm to hear all about it.

Please let your Aboriginal friends families and colleagues from across New South Wales know, as the real test for all of these kind words’ proof is in the pudding.

Anyone interested in cultural safety, Aboriginal reconciliation, professionalism, setting a good example and “hope that everything is going to be okay” will love it.
